Following the distribution of the third issue of ‘Refresh’, each of the 15 Age Concern groups were asked to give feedback via a questionnaire about the style, content and circulation of the magazine (Appendix 1). Thank you to all our Bobble hat knitters 4,825 bobble hats were knitted and sent off to Age Concern England. This is an amazing feat. One person knitted over 500 and is one of our three winners of this years competition. Names will be announced in December newsletter and prizes will be presented at the Christmas Carol Service.

  “...to my greatest surprise people were queuing to get in long before the 10 o'clock start. It was so busy, exciting and buzzing. Eventually about 170 came through the door and exactly 143 people participated in numerous activities. Now everyone is calling to ask when the permanent classes will finally start”.
The fit as a fiddle free taster event which took place on 28th August can be called a great success.

 Pensioners in Dorchester urged to claim their benefits to take the heat out of winter bills. Rocketing energy bills are leaving many pensioners in Dorchester feeling the pinch – and the cold – this winter.

Last week, the recently launched Dorset Falls Prevention Fund (see our other article on this page) awarded its first round of grants. Six groups and charities in Dorset were, between them, given almost £4000 in grants to fund exercise classes, public awareness and training events.
